Come, Holy Spirit Prayer

The Holy Spirit coming down on Mary and the apostles at Pentecost, painting by El Greco
El Greco, Pentecost (c. 1600)

A short prayer asking the Holy Spirit for light and strength. Many pray it before study, work or an important decision, and it is a favourite prayer for Confirmation.

Listen and pray along

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and kindle in them the fire of Thy love.

V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray. O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit didst instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
