St. Benedict Medal Prayer
The letters on the St. Benedict Medal are the first letters of a short Latin prayer for protection. Here it is in Latin and in English.
Listen and pray along
On the front of the cross
Crux sacra sit mihi lux. Non draco sit mihi dux.
May the holy Cross be my light; let not the dragon be my guide.
Around the edge
Vade retro, Satana! Numquam suade mihi vana. Sunt mala quae libas; ipse venena bibas.
Begone, Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities. What you offer me is evil; drink the poison yourself.
